A very old (1920's or earlier) Texaco Gas Can from the USA. This is in original condition and very well preserved. It even still has the cork in the top of the pouring lid as you can see which also looks very old and most likely original, though ofcourse I can't be absolutely certain. There is a wire handle as well.
The metal tin is protected by plywood and the plywood is bound around it with wire.
The previous owner was an elderly gentlemen I met in Illinois. He suggested that I might recognise one of these during the "Keystone Cops" old movies, as they seemed to be always running out of gas during a chase scene and having to fill up with these type of cans.
The Texaco name is stamped on the side and is still distinctly clear. There may be others out there, I cannot say, though this is the first one I have ever come across over many years of collecting.
